Koegler No. 5: the new premium line

A new rosé from the Rheingau – German wine with Provence character

Rosé has long been more than just a summer wine. For many years, it was considered a light wine, mainly enjoyed in summer and often associated with female consumers. Today, this image has changed significantly: more and more people – including men – appreciate rosé for its versatility, freshness, and easy enjoyment. It pairs well with many dishes, works just as well on its own in a glass as it does alongside food, and is now enjoyed all year round – from summer evenings on the terrace to winter days in a bar or on the slopes.

This development shows just how versatile rosé can truly be. This is exactly the modern understanding of rosé that the brand KOEGLER NO. 5 aims to embrace and reinterpret. The company KOEGLER NO. 5 stands for a new generation of wine: rooted in craftsmanship, yet internationally minded and strongly connected to lifestyle and enjoyment culture.

The VIN DE ROSÉ is the first product of KOEGLER NO. 5 and marks the beginning of the brand.

The new generation of the Koegler winery – tradition from the Rheingau

The Koegler winery is one of the traditional estates in the Rheingau. Wine has been cultivated here for several generations, shaped by experience, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of quality.

With Ludwig and Leopold Koegler, the fifth generation is now taking responsibility for the future of the family business. Both brothers share a passion for wine, but bring different perspectives.
From this combination emerged the idea for KOEGLER NO. 5 – a premium line that brings together tradition and the modern world of wine.

The rosé – a German wine with Provence character

The VIN DE ROSÉ by KOEGLER NO. 5 was deliberately vinified in a style reminiscent of modern Provence rosés: clear, precise, and elegant.

The cuvée combines the fine structure of Pinot Noir with the subtle spice of Zweigelt. Aging in stainless steel ensures freshness and precision, without any oak notes.

On the nose, red berries, wild strawberry, and raspberry appear, complemented by citrus notes and a hint of grapefruit peel. On the palate, the rosé is dry, fresh, and mineral – a wine that pairs well both with food and with social moments.

Interview with the founders

Why did you decide to develop a rosé?

Ludwig:

Rosé is becoming increasingly important internationally, but in Germany it is still often underestimated. We wanted to show that rosés can also be produced here that are stylistically on par with international wines.

What was your vision for KOEGLER NO. 5?
Leopold:

We didn’t just want to see wine as a product, but as part of a lifestyle. Rosé stands for enjoyment, sociability, and special moments. We wanted to convey this feeling through our brand as well.

What makes your rosé special?

Ludwig:

On the one hand, of course, the quality and the careful vinification, and on the other hand, the idea behind it: a German rosé that is aesthetically appealing, tastes excellent, can be internationalized, and carries strong storytelling. This is inspired by us as personalities, but also by the multisensory versatility of a rosé wine.

Who is the rosé intended for?
Leopold:

For people who love enjoyment – for dinner with friends, for a romantic evening, or for the beach bar. The wine is very atmospheric, and our inspiration actually came from the beach in Mykonos.

What is your personal story as founders?

Leopold:

At heart, we are very similar, yet still different. Ludwig is more of a romantic, representing tradition and craftsmanship. I am more of a visionary, who loves aesthetics and enjoyment. One focuses on the quality of the content, while the other focuses on the quality of the brand and the lifestyle. Together, we truly complement each other perfectly.

More than a wine: a story

With KOEGLER NO. 5, not just a new product is created, but a brand with its own identity. Inspired by international lifestyle wines and the world of modern enjoyment culture, it combines tradition with a new perspective on wine.

The VIN DE ROSÉ takes center stage – as a symbol of versatility, style, and special moments of enjoyment at any time of the year.

Or as the founders themselves say:

Sometimes all it takes is a good glass of rosé to make a moment unforgettable.
